This shot is part of a series I took a while ago while I was waiting for the tax lady at the HR&R block on 23rd st. Seating there gave me a chance to capture the street traffic as they came by. I’ve been on the fence about displaying this particular shot. I’m always afraid of portraying people in an unflattering way. It’s quite a dilemma honestly…If I went it and manipulated his features I can see how that’s wrong, but If I catch you with your teeth out is that just as bad? I don’t know. I take these photos because I’m fascinated by my subject and they stimuli a part of my brain that I haven’t quite unraveled yet.
It’s easy to not feel guilt if you didn’t do anything to be guilty of, but then again I’ve always had problems with apathy, empathy and sympathy.
